About

Who we are

Bow Valley residents working collectively to sponsor refugee families to settle in the Bow Valley.  Since 2016, we have sponsored two Syrian refugee families, who are now living in, and contributing to, our community, and we have applications in progress for a Pakistani family of four, a Syrian man, and two Afghan refugees.

Our Sponsorship Partnership

The Bow Valley Syria Project is an outreach ministry of Ralph Connor United Memorial Church in Canmore. RCMUC, with the United Church of Canada as the Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH), is the formal signatory for several of our refugee sponsorship applications. By working with RCMUC and other SAH we are able to by-pass some of the red tape associated with the sponsorship application process. Although RCMUC is a key partner, the Bow Valley Refugee Project is a secular project – open to people of all (or no) faiths. We work closely with Bow Valley Settlement Support Services and the Bow Valley Immigration Partnership.
